Table Mountain Cape Town South Africa

A trip to the top of Table Mountain is a "must do" for everyone visiting Cape Town, South Africa. The view form up there is one that can not be described in words. Below you the city and its suburbs will spread out into the distance, while the Atlantic Ocean, Robben Island and the V&A Waterfront will all be clearly visible. If you turn around you will have a panoramic view of the beautiful mountains of the Cape Peninsula disappearing into the distance. If you are relatively fit, you can hike to the top of Table Mountain by taking one of the several hiking routes leading to the top. WARNING! Before you attempt this trip, first watch the weather report. Quite a few people die on the mountain every year because they get lost in the mist, and subsequently fall down one of the precipitous slopes! For most of us, however, the Cableway is the most likely choice. It only takes 2 minutes to the top. They use a slowly rotating cable car, so during the ascent or descent you will have a 360 degree view of one of the most beautiful cities in the world. At the top there is a restaurant, quite a few look out points, and several walkways where you can lose yourself in the splendour of your surroundings. |
